Are yoy watching the original version, or the renewal version? Renewal has extra footage in episodes 21-24 that add a fair bit to the series. And if you ever want to talk Eva, drop me a line. You will have questions by the time you are done.
I'm watching the original version, but I'll probably re watch 21-24 of the renewal at least, or even the whole thing if the animation grabs me a lot. I have a hard time rewatching things though, its tough.
Also I do know some spoilers already but so far "get in the fucking robot shinji" does seem to sum up most of what's going on.
