Does Pokemon have a bad fanbase? I know it's got the creeps but outsides of that.
It’s not the worst politically, though it absolutely can be better. People like SacredAlmighty and Shofu have gone on length commenting on the community’s shaky relationship with implicit racism *and* towards Nintendo and it’s implicit racism.
I’d say the worst thing about it is that they absolutely *cave* to Game Freak above all else. It’s why Sword and Shield still sold big enough numbers, cuz to them, the Pokémon are worth the bullshit.
At some point you have to realize that the animated chess pieces we have aren’t enough to justify the outright abusive game design Game Freak has been leaning on for over twenty years. The games need to evolve, and everyone keeps suggesting to press B just in case it learns some other new trick.
