𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐮𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 ‘𝐀𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐚: There are 4️⃣ sacred months in Islam… [Dhul Qa'dah, Dhul Hijjah, Muharram & Rajjab] And we are NOW in the month of Muharram… The 1st month of the Hijri calendar… MUHARRAM in itself, has a special day within… And that is the day of ‘Ashooraa… And we, as Muslims… try our best to fast on that day…

1️⃣ 𝕎𝕙𝕪 𝕞𝕦𝕤𝕥 𝕨𝕖 𝕗𝕒𝕤𝕥 𝕠𝕟 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕕𝕒𝕪 𝕠𝕗 '𝔸𝕤𝕙𝕠𝕠𝕣𝕒𝕒?? “فَأَنَا أَحَقُّ بِمُوسَى مِنْكُمْ" Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The Prophet (ﷺ) came to Medina and saw the Jews fasting on the day of Ashura. He asked them about that. They replied, "This is a good day, the day on which Allah rescued Bani Israel from their enemy. So, Moses fasted this day.” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “We have more claim over Moses than you.” So, the Prophet fasted on that day and ordered (the Muslims) to fast (on that day).

2️⃣ 𝕎𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕚𝕤 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕧𝕚𝕣𝕥𝕦𝕖 𝕠𝕗 𝕗𝕒𝕤𝕥𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕠𝕟 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕕𝕒𝕪 𝕠𝕗 '𝔸𝕤𝕙𝕠𝕠𝕣𝕒𝕒? "يُكَفِّرُ السَّنَةَ الْمَاضِيَةَ” Abu Qatada al-Ansari (رضي الله عنه) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was asked about fasting on the day of 'Ashura (10th of Muharram), whereupon be said: It expiates the sins of the preceding year.
