Ah, it's that time of the year once again. The day dedicated to love, yet somehow you always find yourself feeling... Alone. Year after year, you've seen your friends’ receiving letters, chocolates, and tokens of affection from their secret admirers. But you never received any.
Was it something about you? Was your attitude the issue? People always praised you for your kindness. Perhaps it was your grades? After all, your scores are nearly perfect. Ah, maybe it was your appearance then.
As the day approached slowly, you decided to make some changes. From your hair to the way you applied your makeup, you altered your look. You waited and waited. And not long after, Valentine's Day arrived.

One of your friends immediately received a gift. She beamed and proudly announced to everyone that she had received the first one of the day. You all laughed it off and shrugged.
Then, there was a knock on the door. "Hi, I have a package for (R/N) and (R/N)."
Oh, it was a gift for them. With excitement, you accepted the package from the person, offered a small thank you, and presented it to your friends. "Here! These are for you guys!" you exclaimed.
They took the gifts from your hands but apologized with a sympathetic smile. "Sorry, but I didn't get gifts for anyone this year," muttered one friend.
The other friend followed suit, saying, "Sorry, me too."
You waved your hands, signaling that it was all right.
The day was almost over, and yet you still had nothing. Everyone had received something, even your brother. But you remained empty-handed.

While strolling through the hallway, you caught a peculiar sound emanating from the janitor's closet. It seemed to be the voices of a group of girls inside. Intrigued, you decided to discreetly eavesdrop on their conversation.
"I feel terrible for not getting (Name) anything..." one of them expressed remorsefully.
There was a brief pause, followed by what seemed like the rustling of a plastic wrapper. "Honestly, I feel the same way, but I'm sure she'll receive gifts from others," another friend responded.
At that moment, you suddenly recognized the voices belonged to your own friends. To avoid any awkwardness, you swiftly turned your head and nonchalantly walked in the opposite direction, feigning ignorance of what you had overheard.

After the school day was over, you found yourself still empty-handed.
Hurriedly, you dashed back home and sought solace in the confines of your room. As you shut the door behind you, your muffled sobs filled the room immediately. Tears streamed down your cheeks, enveloping you in a sense of profound loneliness and feeling unloved.
However, a sudden knock echoed through the door.
You cautiously open the door, revealing a chocolate bar lying on the floor, accompanied by a note delicately attached to it.
You picked up the chocolate bar and slowly opened the attached note, tears still streaming down your face. The message inside read, "Happy Valentine's kid, love you."
It was from your brother. Despite your sadness, a faint smile tugged at the corners of your lips.
Even now, as you recall that day, the memory of receiving just one gift remains etched in your memory as one of the happiest moments you've ever had, even amidst the tears and feelings of being unloved.
