Everyday life was truly the best.  

After joining Marta on her travels, and becoming the knight of Ratatosk Emil didn’t have much of a normal life.  Between running around Aselia to gather the centurion cores, fighting the vanguard, and various other life or death situations, Emil really missed the simpler things in life.  

Not that he regretted going on his journey.  

No, in fact, he was grateful for it.  He wouldn’t have grown, or becoming the person he is today if he opted to stay in Luin instead, and didn’t help Marta that faithful day. He’s a much better person now because of it.  No longer the timid boy who was bullied, and picked on.  He was strong, and courageous.  He had friends he knew he could depend on.  Something he never knew back when he lived with his aunt and uncle.  

However, regardless of that fact, peaceful days like this were truly the best.  And wasn’t this was what he was fighting for?  So everyone can live out their days happily.  

And what made Emil happiest was being able to spend such days with the one he loved most.

"Marta," Emil said her name softly.  She didn’t move beyond the subtle up, and down movements her chest made when she was breathing.  

Emil gently pushed Marta’s bangs out of her eyes, to see them closed.  

It was then Emil recalled a loud bang in the middle of the night, and when he got out of bed to go check what happened, she pushed him back to the room, and told him to get some sleep.  

She must have been preparing this picnic until very late

Emil smiled.  The idea that Marta stayed up late to make sure that everything would be not only set, and ready, but also perfect for the picnic made him really grateful.  He was happy that Marta shared the feelings he had for her.  He honestly couldn’t imagine his life any other way than by being Marta’s side at this point.  

Emil leaned down and gave Marta a chaste kiss on her forehead. 

"Sweet dreams Marta."
