The glowing guitarist | Alexander & Chanyeol
The reason why Alexander loved open mic nights was because he finally got to see someone else in the spotlight. At his hospital, he was the big shot. He gave all the orders, signed off on all the papers, and gave the last okay. He was the director, the producer, and the writer all in one. He was the one who was in charge of nurses, technicians, labs, and sometimes, even the patients themselves. But not when he's away from the hospital. Away from that wretched building, he was just another normal 20-something year old guy who has a stressful job. He hated being in the spotlight, but he loved watching someone else be in it.
Weekends were both his hated but his most favorite time of the week. If he was working, he hated it. Weekends meant car accidents, drunk driving, gang fights, motorcycle accidents, pedestrian accidents, teenage recklessness--you name it, and it'll probably happen on a weekend. But weekends also meant relaxation. If he wasn't working, it was the time where he could go clubbing, shopping, sleeping and on this particular weekend, he could go to the local coffee shop and enjoy open mic night, where nobody was running the risk of bleeding out on the table.
On that particular night, he sat in a corner booth by his lonesome. He found himself traveling alone quite often, but it was only lately--when everyone seemed to be in pairs--that it was obvious. Nevertheless, he sipped on a coffee and gin, listening to each of the acts perform their talent. So far, his favorite one was the little 4 year old girl who could sing the entire soundtrack to Frozen. When the next act was introduced, Alexander's eyes drifted to the stage in an almost distracted haze, preparing himself to enjoy the next act. His brows raised in surprise as the male guitarist began to play--as well as he began to glow. Alexander squinted, staring at the male for a good 30 seconds before starting to get up. He just had to see that his eyes (and his exhaustion) weren't messing with him.
