TINTIPAN, SAN BARNADO DEL VIENTO
A three day, two night sailing trip from Cartagena took us to the magical island of San Bernado, a world away from sophisticated, crowded Cartagena.
Sleeping on the deck and waking naturally to incredible, but blink-and-you’ll-miss-it subtle sunrises at 5.45am. At last no air-con required. A 10 minute dolphin escort along the way. Phosphorescence during late night swims. Turquoise water so warm it feels like a bath (delicioso at night). Hundreds of species of water birds. Stars so close you can touch them. A moon that has risen by 6pm and ‘sets’ behind the horizon at 11pm. Fresh spiny lobsters for £8 a kilo. Mangroves alive with fresh oysters. Only three other people.
One of the best experiences you can have in Colombia, I am certain.
