So, there's an ask going around where you're asked to share five things you like about yourself.
I was really happy I got it from someone I really admire ^^.
But let me share something first. I'm not a very.. open person a lot. It's really hard for me to feel good about myself. I've learned to try to keep that hidden, because.. well, let's face it, what can others really do to help? They can say small words here and there, but sometimes.. sometimes you get so far down in your own darkness that it's really hard to see anything good about you.
But there are several people in my life that have really helped me see the good in me, so.. I think I'll attach it to them.
2) My friend Laura. God, she's been with me for a while now. She goes way across the states for school, though, and I miss her more than I'd admit. But what's really great about her is her smile. She's always there to help for anything, really peppy and get-up-and-go. Sometimes, I feel like she's the only one I can confide in. She helped me learn to trust, even if sometimes that can be seen as a flaw.
3) My friend Jenny. I only recently became close to her, and, well, college distance has drawn us farther apart, but she was probably my closest friend in high school. I talked about a lot of deeper stuff with her, things kinda.. out there, that other people wouldn't understand why I worried about it. Because of Jenny, I realize that I'm thankful for my knowledge, and how quick I am to learn things and grow from them. This extends to things beyond school. I am very thankful for my brain.
4) Heh, this one is a little different. My friend Sean I met at an engineering summer camp. But once, when I was in my lowest during the year, he came and he helped me up. He helped me realize I'm not alone, and I have friends to help me. He helped me realize that I am strong, and it's only me that is stopping me from anything. I owe him a big thanks for that.
5) The last is, of course, reserved for my boyfriend. He doesn't have a tumblr that I can link anyone to lol. But.. he's helped me so, so much. I've had a hard time away from all the friends I love from high school, but he's always been a constant support, and he's endured all of my angry moments and tense crying seshes. Because of him, though, I've learned to also be more tolerant, and to love more. I love that I can.. well, love. I have so much empathy for people, and its not just because of him of course, but he pushed me into realizing it. A lot of the stress I have comes so much just from worrying about other people, and loving them so much it hurts. I don't show that often, but it eats at me. I just.. I have a big heart. But I love it.
That's it. There's so many more people that have had positive impacts on me, and they all deserve to be talked about as well. I will probably talk about them at some point, just because I'm so thankful.
TL:DR: I am thankful for the people that made me into who I am today.
