Yo I've been thinking about limbo town again lwk...

I'd like to imagine that the whole of limbo town, where the limbo folk settled underground, was an area of a bunch of concentrated magic. Maybe it's a former gateway to a magical dimension or hell? Anyway, this magic area becomes activated when the limbo folk start practicing their witch craft. The area starts to become liveable, you can plant crops (although they barely yield a good amount of food), animals are able to survive off of minerals and small amounts of weeds, and they gain access to an aquafier.

I'd imagine that the animals of limbo town look like this

Black wool and leather for clothes, also many sheep have the horns of a ram (think of the movie The VVitch) and red eyes. The animals are mutated by the magic and so they change to a more ""demonic"" appearance. Many livestock are tagged with talismen to prevent grundies from attacking/eating them.

I also think alewives are a very popular career in limbo town! Even if it is supposedly a myth that the modern witch is based off the appearance of alewives, I think I'd be a fun call back and limbo town isn't known for being historically accurate. Anyway, oats and barely would be a common food, as well as ale and whiskey. Salt would be a common seasoning and slow cooking would dominate many recipes. I don't think sweets would be common either, (a la why Klarion has such a big sweet tooth), rather bitter flavors and baked goods with small amounts of sugar would be common desserts.
