was salli ever young?
OF COURSE, ERRYONE WAS A KID ONCE he was extra disturbing though
tell me everything there is to know about salii pls and thank
But ok here I’ll give a ton of bullet points just 4 u Kat:
He’s literally looked the same for the last 30 years, when Cas was young he remembers him looking no different than he does today.
He doesn’t actually guard the dungeon, he just keeps the keys and manages who goes in and who goes out, as well as executions.
He does hand pick his guards for the dungeon, though.
He has a lot of Arunafeltzi physical attributes and is assumed to be from there, but his accent is odd (sounds French, basically).
He speaks quite low and quiet until he gets excited about something, then his voice has a ton of inflection and gets pretty high. He giggles a lot too (hohoho~) and it’s kinda unnerving.
He’s actually pretty eloquent, I don’t think many people expect it.
Naturally, executions get him super excited.
Uh, he really hates Punkin.
Nobody ever sees him go to bed, people assume he just doesn’t sleep.
His job is relatively of low rank within the sanctuary hierarchy, however he apparently has access to nearly any area, including the pope’s chambers (not that he rly goes there anyway).
By the end of the day his hair is always super greasy.
He tends to suck up to whoever the current head arch bishop is, basically becoming their personal servant.
Spoiler; he’s actually way more powerful than anybody he serves, his magic is pretty OP but nobody is actually aware of this since he’s never been seen using it.
The only time he’s even gotten close to using it was when Gloomy was running around killing people in the Holy Grounds, but Pollux and his team were able to stop it before he had to.
He has, however, broken peoples necks/legs/backs/fingers/arms with his bare hands for a variety of great reasons.
It’s not uncommon for a lot of high ranking bishops to get power hungry, but Salii has never fallen into that trap.
He’s even taller than he seems (and he already looks fairly tall); he’s nearing a ridiculous 7 feet.
His height makes doing things like HOLDING AN UMBRELLA for whoever it is he’s currently serving very difficult, he has to hunch over a lot and it looks pretty hilarious.
He otherwise moves very gracefully though, kinda glides as he walks.
If he has even a small bite of any sort of meat he gets really sick.
He’s an incredibly faithful Freya follower and tends to stick to the ancient traditions, but he’s willing to commit to change so long as he feels it is in line with what Freya would approve of.
He loves sparkly shit, if he lived in current times he’d probably have one of those iphone cases covered in fake rhinestones and bling.
I THINK THATS EVERYTHING THERE IS TO KNOW. FOR NOW. 8’)

Dance Priests
The Romans believed that they reached perfection in everything relating to cult. They thought, that, because they were the masters of religion, world supremacy was something like a gift of the gods to them. They dismissed everything which was too exstatic and thought that sticking to some rules and rites would do. And so they had a lot of priests doing cultish stuff and to keep the pax deorum, the peace between them and the gods. They had two priestunits (you know, Romans always liked to organise things): the Collegia and the Sodalitates. The Sodalitates were older and quite obscure. Even in times of the Republic (this means quite early), people didn't really understand anymore, what those people were originally good for. For example the Luperci were part of the Sodalitates. I already talked about them in relation to Patrick Wolf's album entitled Lupercalia. But the best priests, at least to my taste, are the Salii, the dancing priests. They were priests of Mars, the god of war. And because Romans always fought, they had a lot to do. In March (month of Mars) war was started and in October the troops returned home or at least didn't fight, because nobody liked to fight during winter. So In March and October the Salii danced through the streets dressed in the old Roman fighting uniforms and red cloaks. The dance was called tripudium, which can be translated as 1,2,3-step (whatever that means) and they also sang a song. Cool, huh?
