This is so thoughtful of you!! Thank you for asking!!—I strongly believe that Mal and Evie have been in love for so long. Like ever since the Isle. Yes, there’s the whole “You didn’t invite me to your party” and “You can’t leave your castle for the next X years.” thing. But, we so also know that there was the whole spindle (or whatever it’s called) fiasco. Where Mal was gonna make Evie touch it so she could fall on an eternal sleep just like Aurora, but Mal touched the thing before Evie could even do it. Can you explain to me why Mal, daughter of the most evil villain ever, would risk her own life for Evie? We’ll get to that later. Ok, so years go by and Evie and Evil Queen’s punishment is over blah blah The Rotten Four get together.We all are well aware of the fact that “feelings” are not allowed on the Isle but we also know that Mal and Uma are exes but, if you ask me? I don’t really think that was really a romantic relationship. Try more of a hook up. So, as feelings weren’t allowed the VKs didn’t really know what “being in love” is. Mal and Evie just though they felt different for each other than they did for Jay and Carlos simply because they were closer. That’s it. Fast forward to Auradon, Ben was falling for Mal and Mal thought she was falling for Ben. Same with Evie and Doug. But, can you blame them? They don’t really know what love truly is. They didn't know that love is thinking of each other every time they hear the word “home”. They didn’t know that love was feeling butterflies in your stomach when the other would just look their way. They didn’t know that love was willing to risk their lives for the other. They didn’t know that love was missing each other as soon as the parted ways. They didn’t know that love was right in front of them and they sure as hell didn’t know that love was each other. Until one day, one day that changed it all. Mal was sitting at lunch with Audrey, Jane and Lonnie while they were talking about that topic in particular. Mal wasn’t really paying attention until one particular thing made her ears perk into the conversation. “What they say it’s true, I feel sparks every time I kiss him.” said Audrey, talking about her relationship with Chad Charming. That just made Lonnie and Jane go on a rant of questions about other type of feelings that you get while being in love. “Is it true that you get butterflies in your stomach every time your hear their voice?” “Yes.” “Do you miss them as soon as they’re not around?” “Absolutely.” “Do you feel like you’re flying every time you’re in their arms?” “It’s the best feeling.” “Do you lean in every time they touch your skin?” “It’s just an involuntary movement at this point.” and all that kind of stuff. What made Mal worry is that she has felt all these things but not with Ben… with Evie. Mal rapidly excuses herself and runs towards where she knew her boyfriend would be. As soon as she spotted him, she ran and crashed their lips together. Ben was surprised but of course, kissed his girlfriend back. When they broke the kiss Ben couldn’t help but notice the disappointment in Mal’s face. “No sparks” Mal thought to herself. “Hey” said her boyfriend while putting a piece of her purple hair behind her ear “No lean in” Mal thought again. “Everything ok?” asked the king with worry in his voice. Mal didn’t want to worry him, so she lied “Everything is perfect, I just missed you. I’ll leave you to do your stuff again. Sorry I interrupted.” she left before the boy could even blink. She needed to find Evie. Mal ran to their shared dorm and found the blue haired girl sitting on her desk, working on a piece of clothing. “Hey, Mal!” said Evie, happy to see her best friend. “Evie… I-” Mal was trying to find the best way to do what she was about to do “I need to do something but I’m also gonna need you to not freak out… can you promise me that?” “What are you talking about, M?” said the princess, confused. “Just… promise me.” said the fairy, as she stepped closer and helped her friend get up from the chair she was sitting on. “Ok… I promise you.”. Mal put her hands on her friend’s cheek and that was the first time she ever noticed how Evie leaned in to her touch, just like Audrey had described. Mal’s eyes went from Evie’s to her lips and then back to Evie’s. She was scared. Scared of how her friend was gonna react. But most importantly, she was scared of rejection. “M… is everything o-” the blue haired girl couldn’t even finish her sentence because of the soft lips that were now against her own. Evie let out a surprised noise but started kissing back as soon as she caught herself again. Their lips went together as if they were meant for each other, they felt it and they knew the other felt it too. “Those are the fireworks Audrey was talking about” Mal thought to herself. As soon as they separated from the kiss because of the lack of oxygen, they both looked at each other. Panting from the loss of air. “It’s you.” Mal said, looking at her princess’ beautiful brown eyes. “It’s always been you, E.”
