Saint George, patron saint of Catalunya and the city of Barcelona, slaying the dragon. Saló de Cent, Hall of the Hundred, in Barcelona City Hall where the hundred representatives (Consell de Cent) would gather to meet in Medieval Barcelona to discuss policies. It is also where the city decided to fight back against the Bourbons during the War of Spanish Succession, which reached the city walls in 1713. The city held on amidst a brutal and bloody siege for 14 months, finally surrendering on September 11, 1714. This date is commemorated every year as the Diada, as it marks the end of Catalan government, since with the surrender the city was now under Bourbon control (as it remains to this day). #history #saintgeorge #santjordi #dragon #drac #sculpture #cityhall #ajuntament #latergram #conselldecent #salodecent #ajuntamentdebarcelona #catalunyaexperience #catalunya #barcelona #barcelona2016 (en Ajuntament de Barcelona)
