Okay I'm just here for a chat (if thats okay) (i think you're lovely!)

There are some stuff about the show that really bother me you know... First of all in season 4 What Happens to John Watson.. like he is simply characterized by loyalty right it is who he is, then HOW does he cheat on Mary?! (Okay granted that his heart was elsewhere... ahem. But he's just not someone who would cheat)

Also i think Mary shouldn't be a villain... i know she possibly looks like it messes up Johnlock but i think its the opposite actually. I think John is bisexual and his love for her was real but she was basically a Sherlock substitute who looked like him (John)! Plus, she was there when he was at rock bottom so. But what doesn't make sense is her shooting Sherlock in the chest?! What's up with that!

Okay but the Weirdest part is in the last episode when Sherlock has to choose between John and Mycroft and finally choses to shoot himself... BOTH John and Mycroft do Nothing?? HOW

In my head It was love at first sight... and then slowly falling head over heels crazy in love with your best friend and all of it culminating in the most beautiful TV Romance.

Let's address each of you things one by one:

What HAPPENS to John Watson – Your guess is as good as mine, Lovely, and it's a lot of the reason a lot of us can't take S4 seriously. It feels so OOC for John to cheat on Mary with ANY other woman, other than Sherlock (hence it being part of the Alibi theory, this part of it referencing SHERLOCK as being the one John is actually texting in the night), so many of us just don't think that S4 is what it appears to be on the surface. Of course, it could all just be a coping mechanism to deal with how dirty a beloved series did it's fandom, but we take what we can get, honestly.

As for villain Mary, I have to respectfully disagree, only because I believe that I think they were setting her up in S3 to BE a kickass antagonist for S4. Amanda ALSO thought they were going that route for a bit until (my speculation) things went sour with MF, AND they built up her character as a psychopath imho. Then they made her character attempt a piss-poor redemption arc that just... really soiled S4 for me because I firmly believe that John would have NEVER forgiven Mary for trying to kill Sherlock after seeing what it did to him the first time.

But to your point: John is bisexual, yes, but I don't think he's biromantic. I think he's homoromantic, and it's VERY played up in the series that this is the case: his blasé attitude about ALL his girlfriends, but pouncing around the close men in his life like a puppy? Heck, if Lestrade was single, I have NO doubt John would have taken his chances with him too, LOL. John is horny. That's literally the gist of it. He likes sex, he doesn't care what hole it goes in, just as long as he gets it. But I do think he forms VERY strong attachments to men in his life, and in turn he gets hurt, so he pretends he's not into men because it's "just easier" (you can read more posts about my and others' thoughts on John's sexuality here). He was with Mary because he was lonely, and Mary played him like a fiddle. She knew what John liked, and played that up. I believe it's even explicitly stated she knows what John likes. They only knew each other 6 months, CONVENIENTLY just before Sherlock was on his way back? Even ANDERSON picked up on Sherlock making his way back to London. I believe she was a Moriarty plant to see if John knew Sherlock was for-real dead, and she herself enjoyed the game and stealing and keeping John for herself away from Sherlock was part of that game upon the return. So yeah, I really have a hard time believing she OR John actually loved each other. I dunno, again, personal biases and readings of the series, apologies, LOL. I spent a LOT of time analysing Mary's character arc. But I WANTED her to be the big bad for S4, and it just... fizzled and died.

And finally, on your point about the weirdness of John nor Mycroft opting to stop Sherlock, yeah, have to agree with you there. TFP was a goddamned clustereff of WTF moments and mischaracterizations of literally every character on-screen. The only character NOT in character was Eurus and that's literally because they didn't know what to fucking do with her. TFP was so dumb. I have a hard time believing any of it actually happened the way it did on-screen. But yeah, S4 was a big disappointment for everyone including the actors. I think they only people who thought it was great was Mofftiss and that's because they love the smell of their own farts. I can't believe that they GENUINELY thought TFP was going to be Emmy-worthy (for those unaware, they initially planned to nominate TFP for the Emmy, and instead chose TLD, I believe, after the poor reception of TFP, and acted like they were always going to nominate TLD lol).

Anyway, yeah, it was full of angst, though my reasons for it are probably different than everyone else's, LOL. But the fandom IS fantastic, and that's why we stay here, and why I choose now to curate fandom content. Makes me happy, and keeps me out of drama, LOL.

Still salty over the fact that Sherlock had made a long ass video for John on his birthday (MHR) and in TLD we learn that John didn't even know when Sherlock's birthday was!

OOOOF you're not the only one not over it, Lovely. I have been murdered and haunted by this blog entry since I joined fandom at the start of S3, LOL. It hurts a lot hahah.

ramblings about she-hulk below cut

i feel bad because i REALLY wanted to like she-hulk, but i just... can’t get into it? it’s totally something i SHOULD enjoy: it’s cute and funny, the main character is endearing, it’s a cheesy crime procedural, and it’s got self-referential humour. but i just keep going “when’s the interesting stuff gonna happen?” 

i just keep comparing everything that comes out now to moon knight and hawkeye, the two shows everyone else seems to hate. i’m REALLY hoping this is another WandaVision situation where by the 4th episode i finally can get into it, but yeah... it’s not even in my top three right now (MK, Hawkeye, and FATWS are my top three, with Loki and Ms Marvel very close to number 3)... COINCIDENCE that they’re three shows everyone shat on?? probably not). don’t get me wrong, it’s funny, and jen,nikki and the fourth-wall breaking are LITERALLY the only things i’m enjoying about the show (along with the beautiful court room art cards during the end credits), but i find the pacing really off and just... everything feels too “convenient” and just i’m groaning more than i’m laughing. i dunno.

I think i just got super soured at the E1 post-credit scene ... like who fucking cares if Rogers fucked someone or not?? it’s 2022 ffs, why is this still “a thing”.

and like the cgi is.... eeeeee??? like mk’s cgi was REALLY good, maybe because they had more time to refine it since the show was postponed so long, but they did jen dirty, honestly. she... really doesn’t look as good as bruce. better than the trailers, but yeah, i dunno, as a designer who works with photoshop all day, it’s super noticeable for me, pulls me out too much. 

bleh, sorry, i just had to get this off my chest. 

maybe it’s too “happy” for me? hmm. 

i want my blorbos to SUFFER, lol.

maybe i just need a few more episodes. maybe it’s like WandaVision and MEANT to be binged at the end, to watch all as one movie.

i dunno. maybe it’s ‘cause i’m still hooked on mk and want some more interesting stuff about mythology and magic.

LOL Well, it’s a subjective thing; some see it as successful, some don’t. It’s not my place to tell people how they should feel about S4, but that’s not to say that I’m not gonna raise an eyebrow over it. As I’ve mentioned in the past, I’m a fence-sitter in regards to S4. IF there’s an S5, I think there is a long-game plan and that S4 was told subtextually / is actually fake, but I don’t approve of the way they did it. If there isn’t, well… the only thing S4 was successful at was dividing our fandom so dramatically that it’s a shadow of what it used to be, causing everyone to attack everyone all willy-nilly.

The thing is, is that the longer it goes on without S5 100% confirmed, and with how blasé / indifferent / bitter the cast / crew seem about Sherlock, I feel like S4 is what we got because Mofftiss got bored and lost interest in it to do Dracula instead.

Why is it that whenever anybody talks about TJLC (outside of the TJLC fandom) it's always so negative and one-sided? Why are we portrayed as some psychotic idiots up there with Illuminati conspiracists? I get that we've made some mistakes but so have the anti-TJLCers. So have the anti-johnlockers and the shelrl0lians and war/stans. I really dislike how one-sided that Slate podcast is

Yeah, I never listened to the podcast, because the article was more than enough to let me know what shit is going down. It’s just annoying that a few bad eggs were louder than the other 99% of the Johnlock fandom, and they’re the ones that the rest of the world thinks of us as, even though every sector of the fandom has terrible people in it who arguably are just as bad and bully other smaller blogs, which is so uncool and why so many people are scared to be a part of the fandom or to speak their opinions on things.

Articles like this, in PRIDE MONTH NO LESS, are just there to ridicule and demean the largest portion of a fanbase (ie. queer folks) ALREADY beaten down by its OWN FELLOW FANS and the creators of a show, whose creators have already admitted to the baiting but won’t address the backlash. 

I pretty much just shake my head at it all and try to stand by the original core belief of TJLC – that Johnlock is / was endgame – and welcome new people to the fandom as best as I am able to.

Here's a genuine question. A few weeks ago I read an interview post-s4, and it's honestly, bothering me. Mofftiss recognized that they " perhaps took the Johnlock jokes too far", isn't it proof enough that Johnlock is not going to happen? They talked about people saying that they were liars, but they said that not in the Sherlock/John relation ;-; (I still believing in tjlc, but with my eyes completely blind. Not even the proofs are enough after that interview)

Yeah, No I saw reference to that interview too, and honestly I don’t know what to make of it myself. I’ve discussed before about how to tell if the creators are lying, which I did wrote Pre-S4, but I think it still sort of applies… Though now I am a lot more cautious more than anything else. What has / had me believing in Johnlock was the actual narrative arc in the first place… ALL THE WAY UP TO TAB. The whole series didn’t make any sense unless Johnlock was the endgame to it all. To me, they are LYING if they’re saying it was never their intention. If it wasn’t, then why the hell did they DELIBERATELY make S4 SO DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT from the rest of the series? Why did they feel they had to separate the John & Sherlock dynamic so much that the show became nearly unrecognizable to everyone? Sorry, but I have a hard time believing that it was never the intention, though I am open to the possibility that they kept it there to keep the audiences hooked, got bored with the series, and purposely made the last season unrecognizable. Anything’s possible at this point until they say something.

My tinhat self still thinks that there’s a reason S4 is what it is (ie. FAKE AS FUCK), since it just… I can’t wrap my head around them screwing up this badly only ONE YEAR after TAB, one of the best episodes of the series. So tinhat me NEVER believes what they say, because they lie ALL THE FUCKING TIME and they can pry Johnlock / TJLC from my cold, dead corpse. 

My salty self, though, thinks they’re a bunch of queerbaiting arsehats who liked the spotlight too much, and Salty Steph can’t believe a gay man would do such a thing after proclaiming in the past how much he hated it. But then goes to admit they purposely used homoerotic subtext in their show, then deny that there’s Johnlock? I’M SORRY, ASSFACE, THAT’S A CONTRADICTION.

Honestly, I never believe a fucking word they say anymore. I believe what the narrative tells me on screen.
