Rebuilding || Jake & Sam

[ ⚔ ] — Jake normally wasn’t one for volunteer work, and wouldn’t have even considered offering himself up to help with the rebuilding of a store he would normally not care less about. Even moreso since it was apparently owned by that one rich guy in town, the one Jake didn’t like.
But Meg also worked here, bossed it even (even though she had been dissatisfied with the way she earned the position-- or rather, didn’t earn), and so Jake felt an obligation to at least do his part to bring it back, for her sake. Music was her joy, much like smithing was his, and Jake wanted to bring one of her most beloved things back to her. He wanted to get her smile back.
Money, experience-- all of that paled in comparison to the chance of seeing her direct one of those bright and happy smiles at him.
Unfortunately, volunteering meant partnering up. It was no secret Jake had terrible teamwork skills, so honestly, Good Luck to the poor sap that got saddled with him. Assuming the familiar looking blonde guy approaching him to be that sap, Jake turns to him with a blank expression, not at all one for small talk or attempts at friendly bonding. They had a job to do, after all.
“So, I’m guessing you’re this Sam guy I’m s’posed to be working with, then? If so, let’s go on and get it started.”
