Hey Rashad fans - did you guys know Rashad Haughton wrote and directed an 11 minute short film called "Half Samurai" that was released February 23, 2023 (yes.. last YEAR) starring actor Takeaki Abe??
Half Samuri is about a mysterious drifter who wanders into the wrong bar owned by a psychopathic yakuza gang on Halloween night.
It's been 8 years since he released anything as a big part of his time was dedicated to his sister's memory and making sure the fanbase was happy with the MAC Collection, wax figure release, relaunching of the Aaliyah App, etc.
Rashad graduated from Hofstra University in 2000 for film. His very first project was Aaliyah's "4 Page Letter". He completed the video synopsis within two hours, fitting it in between his studies at Hofstra University and his first film as a director being "The Mim Rose" starring Aaliyah as Melissa that same year he graduated (2000).
I'm happy and proud to see that he is out there still living his life and making his sister proud. I know if Aaliyah was alive today she would support 100% of anything he was doing, include him in on some of her projects and who knows, he might have even had the chance to direct one of her music videos. Today I am seeing a lot of GREAT reviews about the short film. I wish there was a way we could watch this if by chance?
