Under Construction : The Samwell Student Union

A wonderful thing has happened: the Check, Please! Fandom is getting quite large! However, that means many people have said they are missing events and groups because they aren’t following the right people to see the post. The goal of the Student Union is to centralize these things. We will also reblog the posts of events/networks, but the goal is to have permanent pages where you can easily see what is going on without scrolling forever.

What will the Samwell Student Union Have?

Community Calendar Shows the dates of Fic Exchanges, Big Bangs, Character/Ship Fests, Meet-Ups, Ngozi’s Con appearances, etc in one place.

Clubs Lists Check, Please! oriented networks that fans can join!

Resource Center Lists other fan resources 

Maybe more! Feel free to suggest things, though we are going to focus on shoring up the ideas above first.

How are you selecting the events/pages? At this point we’re just grabbing anything we see and relying on you to help us get everything! Please see below for how to do that. However, we reserve the right not to feature any event/network which is created with hostile intent.

I know of an omgcp fan network, can you add it? For now, go ahead and add it to this google sheet yourself! There will be a neater page in html once we get our theme up.

I know of an omgcp-related event, can you add it? Yes! Please first check the calendar to see if it is already there. Anon asks for the blog are open, or message an admin (@justaphage, @tiny-potatos). If you run an event and would like to be able edit the calendar yourself, please ask/message off anon.

Can I help run the Student Union? Quite possibly! At this point we could probably use a few extra hands to get this up and running. Send a message/ask if you are interested in participating, especially if you have something particular you would like to work on.

I might disappear for a bit.

Hi friends, a person who was essentially family to me died this weekend and I will be traveling home and probably not around much for at least a week.

I post this cause I have quite a few joint projects in the works, and it may take me a few days to talk with everyone individually, about how this may slow me down, but please know I have not forgotten about you and will be back around in a week or so.
