Sorry I haven't been updating my blog in a while... I've been eating too much due to Dine Out Vancouver :P
Buut now I have all these great reviews and (somewhat) tempting photos to share - yay!
Here it goes... drumroll please...
January 29th 2012:
The first place I tried out was Sanafir by the Glowbal Collection - the moment I walked into the restaurant I loved the ambience! It's very romantic - so *hint hint* gentlemen ;)... the décor was very Middle Eastern; meaning that there were plenty of candles, rich-colored pillows (to sit on!), drapes, gold dangles (? haha), etc.. OOH THEY EVEN HAVE DINING BEDS --> you can eat & drink on an actual bed upstairs with drapes surrounding it... Sexual. I know. (sorry I should've taken pics... next time)
Off the DOV menu, for starters, I chose the pan seared tandoori prawns with tabouleh:
Personally, I love prawns... so I liked it. The tabouleh part... I've never had tabouleh before but I enjoyed it - very refreshing with the cilantro and lemon chutney!
My entree I chose the butter chicken:
Came with aged basmati rice :) the curry sauce wasn't watery haha and I didn't think it was that spicy either. However I did wish I got something else other than the butter chicken because if I were to get any kind of butter chicken it would be from this Indian restaurant on E 41st, near Knight St (and it would've been cheaper for a larger portion)! I also ordered a side of naan bread to accompany the rest of my butter chicken :) overall though, I enjoyed it.
For dessert, there was only one option and it was the "Cardamom Dusted Zelbias", which are like gourmet mini donuts sprinkled in sugar and cinnamon, and a couple of pieces of dark chocolate "bark". You pour your melted vanilla ice cream over those... or you can dip 'em. SO GOOD. I didn't take the picture because my friends and I dug into it already and by the time I remembered to... it was too late. Sorry. LOL.

The second place I tried out was Maenam on West 4th. It was incredible. You must go try it out - DOV time or not. Period.
Green Papaya Salad - it was on the house <3 the manager was so sweet!
It was fresh, citrus-y and light. I felt healthy when I ate it and it tasted good!
Steamed Mussels w/ lemongrass + thai basil - best mussels ever... I have eaten a lot of mussels... and these ones were gi-normus and super tasty. They were the biggest mussels I've ever eaten. Ever.
(From left to right:) Stir-fry beef w/ black peppercorn, green curry of halibut cheeks (you can barely see it because of the flash), maple hill farm chick curry, caramelized pork belly, and pad thai. You think you can eat all of that between 3 people.... but you actually can't. Or maybe you can..?
Dessert! Shaved coconut sorbet w/ candied thai fruit, dark chocolate pot de crème, and house made rice doughnuts (similar to the Sanafir one but bigger and more authentic-tasting I'd say)!!!
Maenam is amazing. That is all.
One of my new favourite thai restaurants fo'sho!

February 5th 2012:
Yesterday, I went to Alpha Global Sushi Restaurant with my sweet friend who works there!
It's not part of Dine Out Vancouver... I just wanted to try a new sushi place because its one of my favourite things to eat on Earth and I simply can't get sick of eating sushi. I also feel that every sushi chef has something new to offer :) and you can truly taste the difference of quality and ingredients!
Lychee mojito, sapporo, Mango Vancouver roll (the one with the smoked salmon on top), and spicy tuna + tempura roll (loved it! its my kind of texture - with the prawn tempura, spicy tuna and avocado)
PRESENTING TO YOU... THE CHICKEN BOMB!
Literally, its like a spring roll. But chicken. And different shaped. With plum sauce (I think... I will double check later).MAGNIFICENT. I could munch on these like french fries!!
