Random Sandover'verse headcanon: the SPN Wiki says that Henry Winchester bought John a little music box that played "As Time Goes By" from Casablanca to help him sleep after John got scared watching Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy at the drive-in, so John Wesson would sometimes hum "As Time Goes By" to Sam to help him sleep since Dean wasn't there to stumble through "Hey, Jude" and Sam knew the tune by heart but only learned what the song was or what the lyrics were when he got to school and a classmate heard him humming it and asked.
