Roper observing how he handles Corky's antics
Roper is always observing how Pine handles himself in different situations throughout season 1.
Corky was an absolute disgrace at the restaurant, and I would have expected Roper to take charge, put him in his place, and apologise to everyone, but he let Pine handle it. He was closely watching how he smoothed things over with everyone (putting his hotel customer service skills to good use).
I was surprised Roper didn't compliment him or even acknowledge the incident. At least Sandy did
