“I can’t imagine much worse.”

It’s a sign that there’s something wrong with the way they do things, that nurturing the next generation is all well and good as long as they actually live long enough. Taking a sip of her coffee, her gaze drifts from her fellow teacher to the window, observing some of the kids outside. 

“Do you ever wonder if they’ll die before us? Three children that I’ve taught have…passed on missions, it’s a sad thing to have to bury your child, Umino-san. I can’t imagine how horrible it must be when there’s not even a body.”
