During their awakening, each young calyx grows into one of two castes—pistils, with bare trees on their backs; and stamens, with seed to plant their unique flowers over those trees. Jason's back is covered in different flowers—from before his Robin days, from the months he spent catatonic. Too many to count, the flowers on his back are so crowded that the petals squash against each other, blend and bleed together like big paint stains on an overflowing canvas. No pistils of Jason's age should sport this many flowers. Dick's heart aches for him. This work was my introduction into a more sadistic/toppy Gar, as I usually read/write him as a subby bottom. This stepped pretty far outside my known comfort zone, but I've read some of Sarri's other work and gave it a chance and I'm so glad I did! The dynamic of Golden Boy Dick exploiting his relationship with Jason to let his friends have their way with Jay is way too hot to pass up.
