@d1c4af // sasha asked: "aren’t you getting tired of all these people?"
“What? Don’t be silly. I like you guys.”
She’s still speaking in that slightly pitchy customer service voice, but there is something sincere in her smile. She does like Sasha, his friends. They can be loud, but they are always polite to her, and they never make too much of a mess.
Maybe Sasha is approaching a sort of wariness to all of this that Juniper can’t understand, would only understand if she hadn’t adopted a policy of not hearing when it comes to Harris's own less-than-savory activities.
"If this is your way of asking me if you guys need to leave, you're totally fine. We don't close for another hour. Stay as long as you'd like, okay? I like the company, really."
@d1c4af // sasha
"Thank you for signing all that paperwork. Nasty business. You're a good man, Mr. — Chasnik."
He likes to learn people's names. The people, of course, should be treated like people. The subjects, meanwhile, and their many interrupting variables —
"There's someone I'd like you to meet, at some point. Dr. Kingsley Harris. And I don't want you to be intimidated by him or his — hm — his team. They're really quite harmless to a man like you."
@d1c4af // sasha said: "there’s a lot you can teach me."
"I doubt it, Sasha." She coughs on cigarette smoke. She's a social smoker more than anything else — or on nights like these, where a shift feels like it's worked her down to the bone.
It's not the first, second, or even the third time Sasha has stayed until close, has smoked with her while she waits for tables to leave. She's lost track of how many times she's been happy to see him.
"All I do is — is this. I don't know if I'm really going back to school. I definitely won't have anything to teach you, in that case, will I?"
