Updates and Positive Vibes~
Hey everyone~! I haven’t really been active on tumblr very much, but I wanted to tell you guys some AWESOME news. For those of you who follow me (or come across this in the SaskBlitz tag), and are aware of the con known as Blitz, some of you may know that the last few years have been kinda rough, even more so the most recent year. If you’re not up to date with Saskatoon Blitz, then you should know that Blitz will no longer be running. Opinions on Blitz will obviously all be different, some good, some bad, some stuck on the fence. After having my own bad experiences, along with my mother having a rough run in with the one in charge, I’m kind of happy to see the con go. I’m sorry to say that the only things that made the con enjoyable were my ridiculous friends, kind and talented artists, some amazing hard working volunteers, goofy guests, and the simple fact I had a place to go where I could just be my dorkish self! Seeing as I want to try to keep this post positive, I’m going to skip the stuff that was downing, instead I want to share with you what’s putting a smile on my face these days. As some of you may know, a new con is coming to Saskatoon called Ganbatte Con! Sadly, some people (I wont name names, no one deserves any hate mail and I don’t want anyone getting that horrid stuff, even more so when all the person sending it may know is one side to the story.) have already started posting distasteful posts and statuses about this con, and some have even sent hate mail to some of the (VERY kind) people part of the team. Now I can understand how the timing may upset some people with how quickly the team of Ganbatte took the opportunity, and it’s okay to have your opinion on if you like it or not, but I just want to make a point; “In the world of business, when something falls, and it leaves a chance sitting there, you take that chance and turn it into an opportunity to make something bigger and better!” A point that my dads relative made, he now owns his own restaurant~! (Las Palapas has really great food, I suggest you try the quesadillas and Shirley temples there~ <3) It honestly pains me to see such amazing people, already having to fight off hate for something that hasn’t even been given a chance yet. I gave Blitz many chances, and all I ask is for you as a fellow nerd, geek, dork, or supporter of a your own friendly dweeb. Give something new a chance. I want to share with you some GOOD (if not great) things about Ganbatte Con, these are some of the things I’ve had first hand experience with, and why I’m so supportive of this new con. ( I am going to focus on someone I’ve had the most experience with, but I am going to touch up on others as well~!) When I first encountered one of the members of this little team, I was dressed as Crona from Soul Eater, it was the end off the con, everyone was tired and ready to go, but before our (a couple friends and I) little bunch left, we wanted to get a picture with this really amazing cosplayer! We hustled over as soon as we could, and they did look a bit busy, but we asked for a photo anyway. They treated us all very kindly, and complimented us all and even asked who made what and how long etc.. In the end we got a fun little group photo~ I also happened to grab their card, which is how I got in touch with them~ Later on after a couple days, on and off chatting with the new acquaintance over statuses, some laughs, a couple downs, soon I was invited to a page to help start up this new con- I was ecstatic!! I was allowed to help and get involved in something that I love~ Some new faces, even some I recognized by cosplay. All these people wanted to make something and were determined to make it happen! I really want people to know, that the people who want to make Ganbatte Con a thing, the whole team, are trying their best. Thinking of creative ways to entertain, amaze, and wow all of you! Some place safe, fun, family friendly, rad as the bees knees, and gushing with positivity from everywhere (Kinda like me right now I’m squeezing my face cheeks just thinking about how excited I am to get involved~! Hoo boy-) There’s some great artists, one artist made two ADORABLE mascots who I can’t wait to see more of, we also now have our own little logo which is super duper rad (My mom loves it-) thanks to them. Someone is working on a web design and I’m SUPER pumped to see how it turns out cause I’m really impatient and wowie I like new things. We have someone as a University coordinator which is cooler than the cat (Those coplays though I think I cried a bit cause their one cosplay just- oh my goodness), I don’t go to university myself, but I have a few friends there who’re interested in going~ A rad as heckie Con Adviser guy who I have yet to meet cause I’m awkward when meeting new people sometimes. I, along with two lovely others as marketing assistants. And that’s not even the half of it- I do believe the board of directors is currently working on a very tight schedule, some of which are running on a lack of sleep and determination. That bunch of people, gave me something to look forward to. After I finished school, I didn’t know what I was going to do with myself, I thought I was going to live my summer life, which is alone, with nothing to look forward to. Now, I have the entire year to look forward to with them, working on fun events~ I’m not saying this because I’m a marketing assistant I promise you, I even asked for permission to post this because these are my true honest feelings about this brilliant team of people. As I said earlier, it hurts me to see this team getting hate, hate for trying to bring something fun to others, while they ruin their sleep schedules (seriously, these guys deserve some R&R, please, not more stress.) I know how it feels to be hurt like that- Aiming to meet someone or show them something great, but have them scoff cause they heard some bad rubbish about you that wasn’t even remotely true. Please, just give this hard working team of people a chance, they put a smile on my face and a kick in my step~ All of this, for All of you.
