When she looked into his eyes she found them not dark set or hollow. Perhaps it was the affect of the sun or dream logic that twisted her perception, yet it seemed to her a deep amber hue burned there. And though his pupils were round, an illusion of change seemed constant in them. Round, sharp- round again. As though changing with his expression and thought.

In waking, she would have feared such a sight. It was unnatural. yet, what harm was there in dream? Her mind has conjured an oddity from exhaustion and stress. No figment would do her harm, no shadow could mar her here.
