I am so freaking fed-up right now with Gen AI. I literally cannot escape as it invades creative spaces. Yesterday, I received an email from an author email newsletter. Said author basically raised me from my first chapter books to adulthood. Her cover designs were always gorgeous, with hand-drawn illustrations or real people photoshopped into historical backgrounds if needed. Now, I see the 4 potential covers for her latest series, and they're AI. All AI. It's not even pleasing to the eye. ChatGPT-ahh font/design. AS AN AUTHOR YOU SHOULD UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF HUMAN CREATIVITY!
I am attaching screenshots of what they look like. If you were to search Susan K. Marlow on Google, you'd see the gorgeous covers for all her prior series. This feels cheap, more like a cashgrab. And her publisher (no she's not indie) IS OK WITH THIS!!!! I have lost all faith in publishers now. Screw AI. It doesn't belong in creative spaces.
