Just finished rewatching Dirk Gently. It’s funny: Netflix have left it up all this time, but still they’ve never considered funding a third season. What gives? The show is magic. Everything about it is amazing. Even the theme song makes my soul happy. It is an absolute tragedy that it never got approved for a third season. I think about poor Bart, realising she’s walked into a horrible trap. And Amanda - what kind of adventures did she go on to have? Did Todd and Farah make a go of things? What about Dirk - how do things change for him after talking to The Boy and getting some answers to his biggest questions about self-identity??
So now I’m spamming Netflix with title suggestions for third season of DGHDA to allay my distress at being so horribly cut off still.
no I won’t shut up about this
my birthday began, right at midnight, with my best friend sending me a cameo message she commissioned for me from samuel barnett, as dirk gently (in the yellow jacket and everything!? which was his decision to include!) wishing me happy birthday. a personalized birthday message from my all time favorite fictional character/show. if i were to say i didn’t cry immediately when i saw him, that would be a lie. this was so incredibly special and really, truly made my day, not even an hour into it. dghda (and dirk specifically) has managed to wedge itself into my heart in a way no other story/piece of media quite has, and the fact that my best friend knows this and knew this would mean the world to me just warms my heart so immensely. best birthday ever.
some of my favorite details from my wonderful, holistic birthday message from dirk (dirk!):
-i mean, first of all, dirk gently addressed me by name. enough said
-he compared me to todd! and in the softest of contexts possible too!
-he actually sang a bit of happy birthday to me!
-without quoting verbatim; he told me i was going to have an amazing year ahead and that whatever i do end up doing is exactly what i was always meant to do as everything is connected
a redraw :)
Don't know if this was made before.
