There's a question dying on her lips; that is swallowed up whole and not asked. She doesn't bring him back in, she lets him take the space. Reaching, she pushes digits through disheveled sepia hair. Back over her head and down her shoulders and neck. Letting out a small breath, she licks her lips and shifts, not bringing her eyes to his but staying in that same space that been put between them.
The quiet made him a little uneasy, which was so strange given that it was the silence that he found himself immersed in so very often. It was awkward here, they had been close before, of course they had been— but he'd been gone. He'd died and he wasn't so sure he was comfortable picking it back up where they'd left off. Boyd had missed so much, caused a lot of ache. He needed time to come to terms with the fact that he was alive again before he was really comfortable with getting close with anyone. "'m sorry," He murmured again, taking a few unsteady steps back. "I have to go deal with a lot of stuff, you knowing coming back from the dead is messy. I need to go find a house or an apartment or something I can live in...and a job, I guess too."
Arms scope upward, hands put pressure onto his shoulder. It's good, good to be able to feel his strength seep into her bones. Even if he is the younger, he was always the one she drew from. Though they were similar in a lot of ways, this was one of those times that the softness broke the surface and lingered on a wisp. Where they're able to be the part of themselves that only the other got to see. It's been so long since she's been able to drop her shoulders and release. Too long.
Boyd doesn't know what to do, the strength that she sees in him is not the same that he sees in himself. He is large, broad in his physique and nearly statuesque build but that is the only strength that he feels that he possesses. He can stand strong in an onslaught of claws and a hail of bullets, but beyond that inherently physical strength, he isn't much more than a kid. That's all he was, some kid that hadn't even got to get his driver's license. But somehow Delphine saw something more in him, but he still couldn't see it himself. Carefully he slipped his arms out and away from her, taking a half step back to open up the space between them.
"No, of course it doesn't mean that." She agrees thickly, hand going to her throat and giving an errant swallow to wash it away. Eyes shine bright, glad that he is back among them once more and back to being around her. She's missed his company. So very, very much. Tentatively, she tests her legs and pushes up from her seat. Before stepping into his frame and hugging him. Head prone on his torso.
The touch, it's not something he was ever accustomed to. Boyd had always tended to be alone, by his own choice but most times not. After the loss of his sister he'd fallen into a shell, a husk of sorts that kept him split away from the rest of the world. The Bite had given him some matter of confidence, at least enough to become friends with Erica. But losing her too had thrust him right back into that reserved nature, that was, until Delphine had dragged him up from the depths of it again. Falling into her arms was something natural for him, comfortable. And he held on, dipping his head and breathing out.
