Even after the massive campaign to prevent the closure of The Public arts venue which included a petition of over 5000 names the council in its amazing wisdom have decided to hand over the venue to Sandwell College.
The college already has a brand new building only yards away from The Public but the council feel this isn't big enough. Even though The Public is becoming more and more successful with every passing week and even more so since the New Square complex opened its doors the brains at the council would rather this building be open to the 500 students it plans to accomodate meaning that during the summer holidays, Christmas, Easter, bank holidays, Divali, EID and so on this building will be closed to the general public.
This decision has to be reversed. It is madness that, at a time of great regeneration in the area, that The Public should be closed when it is the ideal accompinament to what West Bromwich is becoming.
We can't let it close....
