“I'm sure it's around here somewhere” Cake said, voice echoing off the cavernous walls. The massive rocky tunnel seemed to go on forever, The torch in Fionna's hand one of the few sources of light, and she peered down into the labyrinth.
“You know I think we should get to the center and work our way out from there” Cake commented, starting down one of the tunnels. Her soft footfalls were coupled with Fionna's. A glitter of crystals on the wall distracted the adventuress,, she went to check out the glimmer, turning down a tunnel slightly away from Cake. She followed the vein of glittering rock down the tunnel until it blended into the rock wall again.
“It was really cool, huh Cake? ….. Cake?” She looked around for her stretchy sister, but saw hide nor hair of her. She let out a heavy sigh, puffing her bangs out of her eyes. It looked like she would be on her own for now.
Starting down the tunnel again, Fionna began to see peeks of glowing fungus on the walls- always a good sign. Opening up into a cavernous chamber, the hairs on the back of her neck stood up. Alright!
Finally something to fight!
She could feel the unknown enemies blood lust in the soles of her feet. The rattle of gravel confirmed it. She wasn't alone in this chamber.
Travel pillow wedged between her head and the bus window, Risa dozed in and out of an uneasy sleep as the bus drove down the highway out of the city and into the suburbs. It was a trip that usually took an hour and a half but traffic had been horrendous and Risa's patience was wearing thin.
Opening her eyes, she looked over at her friend Marco who had accepted the invitation to spend the holidays with Risa's family.
"Nearly there," she said noting the road sign which indicated the exit on the highway was coming up. "About 15 probably. How you holding up?"
