Sawano continues to amuse with his song title choices

I was browsing some Sawano tunes when I came across this one particular song called “Cage”. I think this song is his subtle way of giving us some insight into the mindset of current manga Eren. (Isayama might have even made specific requests when he was writing the lyrics but that’s stretching it a bit) the repeated line “my frozen dream can never be. It is a paradox you see” is about how Eren wants peace for Eldians, but can’t ever achieve it. Thoughts?

Wow. This is such a gorgeous song and yes, some of the lyrics are perfect!

I don’t know much about Sawano’s music but luckily my friend @leapingtitan (Nick) does. I asked him about this song and he gave me its history:

Cage was originally written for the Unicorn statue in Japan. It’s a Gundam thing.  The song was later released on a single alongside Binary Star (from Legendary of Galactic Heroes). And, rerelease again on a new album that came out today. 

Nick told me that this song is part of Sawano’s [nZk] vocal project. [nZk] is a Sony/SACRA production whereas SnK’s music is published via Pony Canyon. They are completely unrelated. 

Lastly, Nick gave me an alternate version of the song for us to listen to. It’s the same vocals with a different instrumental and was recreated by Sawano for the Gundam Narrative movie because the director liked the original Cage so much.

What is all this controversy with Sawano?

I wouldn’t necessarily call it a controversy. Like I said in the post, it’s just that a lot of people are confused and think that Sawano made the DarliFra OST, when he didn’t and had absolutely nothing to do with it, or the actual composer Asami Tachibana. Thing is, people were spreading false information about her being his student and more shit along those lines. Even a TRIGGER staff member was among those who said that... when it’s just not true.

You know what earlier I was rewatching some of my fav s1 scenes and honestly like...Vogel im Käfig 2.0 has honestly ruined the old one for me like...? 

We’ve only heard a tiny fraction of the climactic part, and that’s still technically the buildup section and yet...it so friggin bloody good like? DUDE?!? I#m so over the top pissed that the intermission cut off the actual climax of the song because I swear to god that’s literally going to be the most eargasmic thing I’ve ever heard in my entire life ever? like what? holy shit! Judging from the appearance of Vogel during the scarf talk (and the overall history of the track in s1) it’s pretty much guaranteed we’ll get it during the climax of chapter 50 and I just.....
