Sayara is An ex member of the last realities cube assassins and has taken a vow of silence to honor those who's realities had fallen
Yes. The MLP(mylittlepony) fandom got me. ..kinda
sayara replied to your post: we gotta go functional lewd
functional…
it’s the gals!!! I went through a Moment the other day and drew a whole bunch of my OCs in this (REALLY cute) lineless art style, and took the chance to play around with colors on those redesigns I posted a few weeks ago, and they look really nice actually? I’d love to get around to redesigning and drawing the rest of the cast like this sometime, when I get the chance. Sayara in particular came out so cute, it almost makes me feel bad about the things this story puts her through...
This is really more of a Book 3 design for Sayara, she’s not nearly this formal or shiny in Book 1, but I have made the executive decision that I don’t care.
Fun details to note: Sayara has a rose motif on her lapels, which you can also find in some other portraits I’ve made of her--the fairies have color associations that are punch-you-in-the-nose obvious, but they also have associated flowers, which is a bit harder to notice because it mostly only pops up when I happen to remember it. I use blue roses for Sayara, because they’re not found in nature. They’re only around due to the simple human determination to create something never seen before. Given various things about Sayara both established and spoiler-y, that symbolism really fits--she is all about doing the impossible.
I also like the visual contrast between Sayara and Violet--Sayara’s design, despite focusing around her diamond emblem, is very smooth and bubbly. Her epaulettes almost serve to soften her shoulders as much as they emphasize them, and pretty much all of her corners are rounded off. And then Violet on the other hand is sleek and sharp, with those severe angles to her shoulders, and even though her associated symbols and shapes are mostly composed of round ovals and crescents, she has a way of making them seem almost threatening. (At least, I think she does, and that’s what I was going for.) Violet’s a potential ally, but also an established enemy and an undeniable threat--so she gets to be a little intimidating, and I love that for her.
rises from the grave at 12:30 am to post redesigns and nonsense
i haven’t drawn my fairies in years, so i figured i’d take a little break from constant D&D spam on other accounts to do some lil 2022 redesigns of my gals!! notable additions include sayara’s stupid asymmetrical epaulette and violet’s Excessive Jewelry <3
one day i will get back to writing… one day. unfortunately, law school purgatory and existential crisis remain. i’m figuring out how to relate to my gals from the new perspective of a Whole Ass Adult and it’s, yknow, a little different! but i will always love them, and one day, i WILL finish telling their story.
The ‘taking out way more weapons than it’s possible to have concealed on their person’ meme with Sayara, except instead of weapons it’s rocks
IT’S THE TRUTH!!!
OK slightly related tangent, I’ve always been pretty open about the fact that Sayara’s inspired by my antics back in grade school... When I was like 13ish, I trolled my chorus teacher for at least a month by filling my pockets with random junk. It started small, I’m a fidgeter and I’d play with erasers or bouncy balls during class while running through music. But for whatever reason (probably because I couldn’t stop dropping and losing the bouncy balls...), it drove this teacher completely NUTS. Like, the minute she saw something come out of my pockets, she’d halt the entire class to tell me off. She started confiscating my fidget stuff and keeping it until the end of class, but without my fidgets I got really restless, so I kept bringing more stuff... after a point I developed a certain level of spite, and realized that I could weaponize this. I started bringing ridiculous amounts of stuff—fist sized rocks from the backyard, fake poop, one time I managed to cram thirteen bouncy balls into one pants pocket. I miss those pants, they were incredible. But she just wouldn’t let up!! And she wouldn’t just let me have harmless stuff, either, I would’ve accepted a “no things that bounce” rule if I could keep my worry stones and little flocked animals.
And thus, my master plan to finally break this teacher. So, also when I was 13ish, I’d taken up finger-knitting—basically, you take some yarn, and you knit it into a tiny little tube with your fingers. This was really satisfying, and I was challenging myself to make THE LONGEST FINGER STRING EVER... this would be Ms. Eberhart’s ultimate downfall. I balled up my greatest creation so far, and put the whole thing in my pocket before chorus class.
She saw me walk in with my pockets totally bulging, and immediately demanded that I empty them and hand over my stuff—but I was prepared. I did hand over that finger string... all 24 feet of it, inch by inch, as I gradually unraveled the entire wad of yarn while pulling it out of my pocket. This took about five minutes and everyone in the class lost their minds. This was, like, the apex of my entire 8th grade experience. I thought I was a goddamn celebrity. Ms. Eberhart genuinely looked like she was going to cry, but she couldn’t even get me in trouble for it, because I hadn’t touched the string until she told me to and technically I was following directions just as an obedient student should. :)
The point that I’m getting to is that this whole story is 100% peak Sayara aesthetic and I’m SO glad that I have managed to depict it with such accuracy so far. Sayara’s pocket hoards genuinely do save her life multiple times during the series—there’s really no end to the things you can do with rocks and pocket string!
some Big Fairy Moods from the last couple weeks, to make up for the fact that this blog’s been inactive as hell. for the uninitiated: bob haircut is aelia, angry dress gal is violet, sayara is the nerd with the sword.
the legendary weapons of feilan are pretty important to the story, seeing as the discovery of one kicks off the entire plot!! but there actually aren’t any swords among the set. sayara’s very disappointed, because she’s quite good at fencing, but she never learned archery or axe throwing or any fighting style that could mesh with an existing legendary weapon.
the small beacon of hope is that several weapons change form, but no swords have been recorded in known history. starshard has demonstrated the options of being a longbow, hunting bow, or crossbow... stormcleaver can be an axe or a hammer depending on the day and the mood of the wielder. it also changes size. harmonine’s magic staff turns into knitting needles. it’s weird.
with all this in mind plus sayara’s special interest in history, you’d think she would have demanded lessons in something more heroic. but swords were easily available, and she’s liked to hit stuff with sticks since she was tiny, so swords were the answer to all the problems.
also, you can learn kinds of fencing that don’t involve people getting hurt. there’s no avoiding murder class when learning, say, axe throwing or how to beat someone’s ass with a hammer.
