Regarding SBAC. . .
-:{ Not sure how many of my followers are in high school, or more specifically juniors, but I think my school is doing a mass protest in a sense. A school in Seattle recently had SBAC testing but no students showed up for it and thus it was postponed and gave the school a rank of zero on the charts.
If you don’t know about SBAC testing because you are out of school or living in a different country, it stands for Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium. It’s an online test that Juniors and middle schoolers take (unless opted-out) to “track student progress”. In reality, I think the only reason a school signs up to administer this test is to receive grants and money.
In my school I know at least a few students are going to be putting random answers instead of actually trying the test.
If you think it is absurd that we are planning to do this, then I’ll be questioning if you are not controlled by this already corrupt educational system. Schools want the money this test has to offer. This test is not required by colleges. Students are already (mostly) required to take the SAT or ACT or ASVAB and other state-wide standardized tests. Why do we need to sit at a computer wasting our good education time?
The people who made up this test are using us as guinea pigs, lab rats, test subjects.
I’m just going to put it out there that I’m going to proudly protest with my friends. Hopefully that’ll do something. }:-
I feel like I am going to explode.
