“That’s not what I meant and you know it.”
"I don't have time for this," Patrick says with a shake of his head. He purses his lips in a fine line, stature rigid as he stands in front of David.
"Wow, okay," David scoffs. "Great to know how much you care."
“That’s not what I meant and you know it.”
David turns away from him and folds his arms. "Whatever. Just go."
A sudden, strong urge sweeps through him, an urge to comfort David, to hold him and reassure him and whisper apologies. But just as soon as it comes, the urge is replaced by the white-hot anger surging with a vengeance in his chest.
Patrick grabs his keys.
"Don't wait up."
