2: Were they originally well received by the fandom? Or if they’re fandomless, did the RP community take to them right away or was it hard to get attention?
Possible unpopular opinion.
On forums in the past/in the chatrooms of the way past (before probably many like… remember… pre-Google days, yo >.> ) Astera/Masiko was fairly well received. These days, not as much. *Laughs* Partially it’s because I’m shy/been through some pret-ty shitty situations so it’s difficult for me to approach people but it’s also because (I think) I chose a character/FC that’s like… a triple or quadruple whammy in most rp'ing communities. Female. Not looking to smut. An OC. And a WOC. With a troubled past and had a kid (guys? A-okay but for women it’s like ‘aw hell no’). Just not a character most people seem to dig to rp with. I’m also like.. old in the rping community so all these styles and fancy fonts and icons and crap is not my strongest point.
4: How do you get into your OC’s mindset to write for them? How do you find the muse for them?Watching martial arts movies and/or movies with themes of revenge and/or gangster themed. Or Tarantino movies because I like Tarantino movies. Groovy shit.
And heavy dialogue/themed shows like Fargo or Breaking Bad or Machiko e Hatchin or TLOK that has some fuckin’ flair and style to them.
6: What is your OC’s family situation? Do they get along? Do they fight? Or are they alone?Bad. Like, in most verses her family is a crime syndicate/like a crime syndicate. To strip it to bare bones for most verses, she was more her grandmother’s child (mother of her father). Her mother ended up feeling betrayed that her own daughter not only was raised by a woman who she didn’t agree with but had this old mentality of “there’s family and there’s Family and you’re loyal to Family and not the Family”. When a teen, she chose to become a mom because she so badly wanted a family of her own and to escape the Family but when her father stepped up and was, you know, a Dad, she couldn’t leave her Dad. That ended up costing her.
But her grandmother loves her and she has two cousins who she’s very close to. (In rps in the past, she ended up having four other children and a very tight, loving family, so there’s happiness there?)
8: What does your OC look for in a significant other? Are they looking at all?Respect and responsibility. She has a low tolerance for foolishness, for blaming others for your own problems and for the consequences to actions you caused. Being honest is pretty high up there but depending on the… lies that are told and the circumstances she can be forgiving. Really, she doesn’t give a flying fuck what you do as long as you aren’t hurting others - and get in her way. You don’t have to agree with her actions and her own beliefs or any of that shit but you damned well better respect it.
Is she looking? I don’t think she’s ever looking. Shit happens. In the past, she’s been pretty shit with relationships. And has intimacy phobias/awkward when it comes to anything intimate. Sex is sex but more than that it’s… getting into an uncomfortable area but it’s always an area I’m willing/wanting to explore with her! But anything serious/committed would happen after she kills her mother.
10: How do they deal with strangers?Something to study. Lol. She’s pretty good at getting a feel for people and how to deal with them fairly quickly.
12: What scent calms them? Reminds them of home or something soothing?Jasmine and Nag Champa. That crisp, bright scent of fresh fallen snow when the air is still and the sun new over the horizon. And the ocean late in the afternoon/early evening.
And baby powder. That’s a double edged sword there. Soothing but.. painful, too.
14: Pet peeves. Tell us what would really tick them off. Do they have a Berserk Button?People who interrupt her or don’t listen. You ask advice, she gives it, and you dismiss it and state your own damn advice? Why’d you even ask? Willfully ignorant/derogatory comments.
You talk badly about her decisions, her past, particularly anything to do with her daughter and her mother you’re going to find yourself with broken bones when you wake up. Or, you know, you try and kill her. You make an attempt to harm or kill her, you forfeit the right to not be harmed (minimum).
