Look at my mech pilot dawg I'm gonna CASCADE
boy with the hand shaped scar
Hi, it's three in the morning, I woke up from a horrible dream, so now I'm going to talk about BEELZEBUB'S FORM and SCARRING.
(Disclaimer, this is going to be very disjointed, I'm not 100% atm, but hopefully this makes some kind of sense!)
So, Beelzebub keeps a fur-covered form whenever they're in a demonic shape, and even when they were Angelic, though back then that form was primarily kept for watching over the humans. (Something familiar to them - animals - mixed with creatures Cassiel had liked, such as flies, antelope, some draconic elements, etc.) They were not ALWAYS furry / fuzzy when they were an Angel, there would be times when their form would shift to something that allowed their skin to be shown, because ofc there's SKIN underneath all of that fur, it helps give structure and lets them interact with the World At Large. ANYWAY.
Fast-forward to The Fall and Beelzebub's Battle with Gabriel and getting The Scar Around Their Waist from, y'know, being bisected, left to die, resurrected by the primordial ooze of darkness that exists in Hell (regular Tuesday shit). Bee started primarily wearing their fox-like form (favored as it already was) as their only form. There was no more shifting, no more soft skin, unless they were going to Earth (and even then, they hid their form with heavy robes). You see, the fur hides most of the scars Beelzebub's received (the one from Gabriel is partially an exception, see THIS POST for explanation). They hide anything given to the Sin by Solomon, at the very least, and heavy robes help hide whatever might possibly show through and anyway I don't know where I was going with this, it just seemed very interesting to me how fur could hide a great deal that people wouldn't think to look for. That Beelzebub's form, even though it is the one they consider to be THEIR form when they take a physical one (aka when not looking like a Biblical Angel, all eyes and burning flames and who knows what else), could be used to help hide reminders of past incidents they still have a lot of trauma over.
Anyway, sorry for the 3am babble. I'm going to try going back to the sleep thing.

Bodies
headcanon (?) ramblings below (originally had a read more but it glitched some of the text)
My human Edward is trans (honestly Edward is such a trans character. He has the energy to be trans in literally every way) Although I don't assign exact ages to my humanizations because of how much time the characters (as engines) exist across, I still want my human Ed to look like he's certainly lived through a lot. He has more scars than this pose allows me to show.
Although James is a pretty femme character and my humanization (while dressed up) reflects this, hes also lived in and scarred underneath his outer shell. He’s rarely seen with that unsightly burn scar from his first accident uncovered. he’s probably getting dressed, facing away from the bathroom mirror here, so he also doesn’t have to see it.
slight visual update for Henry’s prosthetic hand :) I think the best descriptor for his (new shape) body type is “literally just a guy”, I dont think he qualifies for dadbod and hes not RIPPED 💯 💪 either so hes just Dude. I gave him more arm scars, the fact that I’d made him only lose a hand with no minor injuries felt weird to me.
Ironically for the poses I drew them in, Edward is more comfortable in his skin than Henry ever will be. James’ perception of his body is low in a completely different and much more painful direction :(
As a result of his burns and his fractured arm after his fall from Ultima, Gaius has a hard time with fine motor skills that require the use of both hands. His scarred arm is numb and vacant on a good day, and an aching, prickly mess on others. He lacks a lot of sensation in his fingertips and palm.
As a result, he isn't very good with what many would consider basic tasks. He cannot tie his boots very well; he struggles to use buttons on clothing, or hook and eye closures; his knife skills have faded, as he isn't always able to tell just how tightly he is grasping a vegetable or fruit, nor how close to the blade his fingers are.
As a result, Gaius has made a few alterations, some of which are more obvious than others.
While he still wears the same pair of Garlean issued military boots he's had for over a decade, he has had zippers installed. This allows him to keep them laced tightly without needing to fight his own hands to do so, as zippers are usually more friendly to use with only one hand.
He has mostly forgone button-up shirts, jackets, and the like. He will wear them, but only over something he doesn't need to button. Certain styles of clothing, such as Thavnarian pieces, lean into toggles instead of buttons, and those are much easier to finesse one-handed.
Much like his shoes and his shirts, Gaius struggles with trousers that lace up, or button-fly pants. When given a choice, he would prefer to simply have a zipper fly, or to forgo any type of closure at all. Once again, the Thavnarian style of breeches lend themselves quite well to those with limited mobility, as they're simply an elasticated waistband he can pull down or adjust as needed.
As for his knife skills... well, he's doing his best.
