I think that’s what’s truly troubling to me, and I think it’s a failing of American education, specifically. We act as though our own country is immune to fascism because “we’re America” or some shit. Because we were the ones who punched Nazis before (and the shameful heel dragging, plus the turning away of refugees is conveniently glossed over). We dismiss the struggles other countries went through with regards to white supremacist and/or fascist movements under this guise of “this is different.” “No, Trump is actually a moron.” This is what has been thought of every brutish autocrat that’s risen to power by the intellectual left, and guess what? We don’t fare so well in these times.

We are given history classes for a reason...

I really didn't want Clara to die... but at least she got a good death. Damn, it was a brilliant episode, but I have such mixed feelings right now.

I really only saw to options, from where we left off - Clara dying or something so majorly transformative that it would essentially be a death. (I held my breath in the raven scene, because the latter was still on the table, for just one second, as if Clara Oswald could beat the laws of this place just as she had changed stories before.)

I really think this is a series which will only come together - or not come together - as a whole. Clara’s story is not quite over yet and I feel that. It’s incomplete. But until now, utterly flawed and messed up and gorgeous and I could love this a lot.
