Bark also criticised national team coach Joachim Löw who claimed to have been unaware of the shouts and insults in the stadium. “That press conference was quite irritating. To wriggle out of it like that, that he hadn’t heard what thousands of others had heard, I thought that was very weak.” It was a clear fact that there were “nazis” travelling to every away-game of the DFB team, said Bark. “That is a problem that the German national team has. It needs to be addressed, by DFB as well.” [...] You couldn’t directly compare the crowds at international games and in the Bundesliga. They were fundamentally different. “Ultras of the clubs don’t actually care that much about national team games.” [...] It was remarkable that young 21-year old Julian Brandt had clearly stated the nature of the chants. Brandt: “When there are chants of a national socialist background there is no reason to support that and go to the fans.” He had hoped for similar statements from team manager Oliver Bierhoff after yesterday’s game, as well, who had instead caused a stir beforehand with his statement “Whoever attacks DFB also attacks the national team.” Bierhoff had knowingly tried to play down the subject, thereby wasting a chance. @ein-schuss-ein-tor
