Salivary gland stained for neutral mucins and basement membranes using the PAS method. The mucous acini are evident by the strong reaction with Schiff’s reagent after oxidation with periodic acid. Mayer’s Hx provides a nice counterstain to illustrate cell nuclei.
Salivary gland stained with PAS and Mayer’s Hx. Goblet cells within mucous acini stain most brightly with the PAS stain.
