Kidney (renal cortex) stained for basment membranes using the PAS method. A renal corpuscle is displayed towards the middle.

Skeletal muscle stained for glycogen using the PAS method
Pancreas stained with H&E. A pancreatic islet of Langerhans (an endocrine tissue that secretes hormones including insulin) can been seen in the middle, surrounded by exocrine scretory units (secrete pancreatic enzymes).
Thin skin of scalp stained with H&E. Two prominent hair follicles are evident. Only one has been cut near where it reaches the surface. A sebaceous gland can be seen adjacent to the hair follicle that reaches the surface.
Salivary gland stained with H&E. A mixture of mucous (pale) and serous (darker) secretory acini are evident.
Salivary gland stained for neutral mucins and basement membranes using the PAS method. The mucous acini are evident by the strong reaction with Schiff’s reagent after oxidation with periodic acid. Mayer’s Hx provides a nice counterstain to illustrate cell nuclei.
