Cleaning radish seed was relatively easy today. Here's how: we chose the best roots of our harvest last year in Kutztown and over-wintered these Schifferstadt Long Black Radishes at Roughwood Seed Collection. They bolted, flowered, and set seed pods this spring, which we harvested when they were brown and dry. I hung the pants upside down in the greenhouse for a few weeks where they got crispy and ripe. Today, @palmermarinelli and I took the pods off the plants and stomped on them to remove the seeds. They shattered! Very little shrink wrapping around the seeds as they sometimes do. We sifted with a little hand threshing, and then put through this seed cleaning aspirator, which is powered by a shop vac that separates heavy seed from light chaff.
