There’s a loud pop as she does so and then… pink smoke? Then a sweet smell, like cotton candy, or bubble gum, maybe, and for a moment, David can’t see anything.
“Um. Was that supposed to happen?” he hears Alexis say, followed closely by Stevie muttering, “What the fuck?” As the smoke clears, David has to agree with her, because, seriously, what the fuck?

Once upon a time, David wouldn’t have set foot on this boardwalk, much less taken a ride on that death trap, but… It’s only the first item on a laundry list of things he’s done simply because Patrick Brewer asked him to. Ironically, it’s also the last item that brings them here today.
David sighs. “We’re here to sign divorce papers,” he reminds him.
Or — On the day they're scheduled to sign their divorce papers, Patrick brings David to the place their relationship began: the ferris wheel at the Santa Monica Pier. He's secretly hoping they'll be given a sign, but a literal tsunami is a bit more than either of them bargained for."
