What is schizophrenia? Schizophrenia is an illness. It is caused by dysregulation of chemicals like dopamine, serotonin and glutamate in our brain .Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder in which people interpret reality abnormally. When this condition occurs, a person's ability to feel, act and think can be affected. What is schizophrenia?

Schizophrenia is an illness. It is caused by dysregulation of chemicals like dopamine, serotonin and glutamate in our brain .It affects every 1 in 100 people Its symptoms include:

 HALLUCINATIONS- Hearing voices or seeing objects which are not present. Because of this symptom, patients are seen talking to themselves. Patient also start to believe that people are talking about them.

 DELUSIONS- Believing in something, which is not possible or is not real. Eg: believing that people are against him/her, believing that they are being controlled by external powers.

DISORGANIZED THOUGHTS- People with schizophrenia often have hard time organizing their thoughts. 

DISORGANIZED SPEECH- This happens because of disorganized thoughts.

Treatment includes:

 Medications: These are the primary mode of treatment for schizophrenia. They regulate the levels of dopamine, serotonin and glutamate in our brain and help in relieving the symptoms
