Things to script for a University DR (+ why!)
this is all coming from a current 4th year student. Most are things that I've experienced myself or other's I know have. If there is anything specific you want to know I don't mind answering questions or adding things to the post!
☾𓂃₊ No one asks annoying questions
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ There have been multiple times I have had to sit through someone arguing with one of Professors, and many more times where class was supposed to end early but SOMEONE had to talk for an hour and a half
☾𓂃₊ The Profs don't test on things not in the lectures or readings
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ This doesn't happen that often at my University but it has happened
☾𓂃₊ You always get the best seat
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ I am currently stuck sitting perpendicular to the projector in my history class, it's not fun.
☾𓂃₊ You get a break during long classes
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ Most Profs do this, but I've heard of some who don't so be safe
☾𓂃₊ The syllabus has assignments that you actually like to do
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ If you like presentations they'll be on there, if you hate them then they won't be
☾𓂃₊ The syllabus marking scheme is biased towards you
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ I don't talk in class and I wish that the syllabus' don't have participation on them!
☾𓂃₊ There is enough time to get assignments and readings done early
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ Trust me, you'll need this (and yes! Please do your readings!)
☾𓂃₊ The professors don't talk too fast and don't switch slides until you're finished writing
☾𓂃₊ People around you have good hygiene
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ One of the worst things is sitting in an 8AM next to someone who thinks showers are suggestions
☾𓂃₊ Your university doesn't cut needed classes and programs
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ I was forced to change program streams because they kept cutting my mandatory classes (I'm gonna miss out on my original degree by a single credit because of it)
☾𓂃₊ You have a high GPA without needing to try much
☾𓂃₊ There are no staffing shortages and professors don't get fired and not replaced
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ We have 1 (ONE) ancient history professor now
☾𓂃₊ Degree programs don't get grandfathered out
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ Rest in Peace, Ancient History and Religious Studies
☾𓂃₊ Your University never struggles for money
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ Unlike Trickle-Down Economics, the money situation your university goes through will directly affect you on an individual level
☾𓂃₊ If you have random roommates, you actually get along with them
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ There is a very large chance that if you don't script this you'll meet and live with psychopaths (my first year roommates tried to give me covid (knowing i have a chronic lung disease) because they believed in eugenics… don't even get me started on 2nd and 3rd year)
☾𓂃₊ If you throw parties, they don't get shut down by the cops
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ It's a whole thing, you might even get put on academic probation for it
☾𓂃₊ Speaking of parties, no one damages your unit
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ One time two of my roommates threw a party and a random man they didn't know walked in to kick 4 holes in our wall with his work boots before leaving
☾𓂃₊ You and your roommates don't catch the university sickness
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ At the beginning of the semester and at the end (especially in winter), everyone gets sick, E V E R Y O N E
☾𓂃₊ You're allowed animals
☾𓂃₊ People aren't loud when you're trying to do work
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ This is especially needed during weekends and Fridays
☾𓂃₊ The internet is great
☾𓂃₊ The power does not go out
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ For some reason the power here has gone out 3 times already???
☾𓂃₊ Dishes and laundry don't pile up OR you have enough time to do chores
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ The easiest time to get a washer is during midterms, mostly because most people are too busy to wash their laundry for a little bit
☾𓂃₊ You don't need to pay to do laundry
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ Half the time the machines are old, and the other half of the time they steal your change. It's better to avoid it at all costs
☾𓂃₊ You can bring candles and incense (and they don't cause accidental fires)
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ I do not know of any university that doesn't ban candles and incense in res
☾𓂃₊ You have your own bathroom
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ A lot of schools have shared ones, I'm lucky that my suite is more like an apartment (2 bathrooms)
☾𓂃₊ You have your own room
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ A lot of schools have shared ones, where I go everyone gets their own (again an apartment, 4 bedrooms)
☾𓂃₊ Your residence has a kitchen
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ Learning to cook is really fun, and it helps you stop ordering food so often
☾𓂃₊ There is enough provided storage space
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ I always hear people complain about not having enough space in their closet
☾𓂃₊ Fire drills don't jump scare you and always happen at the best time
☾𓂃₊ Your decorations don't damage the walls
☾𓂃₊ Your decorations don't fall off the walls
☾𓂃₊ There are no bug or structural problems in the dorms
☾𓂃₊ If you take the bus, there is always space for you, it is never late, people are respectful and smell good, and you always arrive on time
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ This is just something I recommend in all scripts because sometimes public transportation is miserable
☾𓂃₊ If you drive, parking passes are not expensive, there little traffic, no road rage, you always find a spot, gas is cheap and nearby, no one thinks to graffiti your car
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ Again, I recommend in all scripts
☾𓂃₊ The clubs at the University are interesting to you
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ Script creative clubs! My school is setting up a DnD club it doesn't need to be an academic club
☾𓂃₊ There is no SA on campus
☾𓂃₊ There is no Racism, Homophobia, and Transphobia on campus
☾𓂃₊ There are no staff strikes while you attend
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ All of the colleges where I live have gone on strike and because of that my bus route to school has been changes (which, fair don't cross the picket line but I don't like climbing up a steep hill to get to the sidewalk), it's a little thing but it WILL affect you if it happens
☾𓂃₊ You always grab a spot where you want in the library
☾𓂃₊ People's voices don't echo in the library
☾𓂃₊ Cafeteria food is cheap and exactly what you want
☾𓂃₊ There's a lot of off campus events and establishments you can go to
☾𓂃₊ People dress up for events, or just for fun
☾𓂃₊ More green spaces on campus
☾𓂃₊ There is wildlife on campus
☾𓂃𓂃𓂃₊ Trust me when I say, the times I have looked out my window and seen deer eating in the field is more calming then any meditation I will ever do. (script bears on campus away, it gets annoying at a certain point)
