School Messages, or how I entertain myself during the day
My school has an instant messaging/email program on all the computers. You can send a message to either everyone or a certain person. 99% of the messages that I get are in Korean, since the person who wrote it sent it to everyone. For example: the vice principal sends out daily announcement messages, or Kim Minsu will send out a message telling everyone when volleyball practice will start.
I like to try to keep up with the news of what is going on in the school, so I use translate.google.com to find out what they mean. All of these messages make perfect sense in Korean, but they are poorly worded and awkward in Google's translation. Most of the time, I can understand at least most of what they meant, but sometimes it is either impossible to tell from the poor translation, or the translation was unintentionally funny. The way they sent it wasn't meant to be funny, but Google had to mess the message up. And I love getting these messages, because they break up the monotony of lesson planning. I have kept a few examples of some of the funnier ones that I have gotten through the year.

Shady business is going on in the school.
Did you spend your weekend? Spring frost is not finished yet so cold I pray that good day care hasimyeo. ^ ^
This was the greeting to one of the vice principal's daily announcements in late March. We had a warm week followed by a cold week. All of her greetings are always really cute, and I love that the vice principal types emoticons into official school announcements. ^^ And the next day, she opened up her announcements with this gem:
Spring frost is a rather chilly morning of magnolia blossoms in a flower bed
So poetic.
As the days pass, but fleeting, like every gay person working as a master of the day is called. I pray that one day I laugh a lot. ^ ^
I'm not sure if that one is happy or sad...
To feel happy about being alive is a day. In any mischief to the children as we believe that there is cute squirrels make them better appreciate spirited
I am not quite sure where she was going with that one...the children are rambunctious because of cute squirrels?
In twenty-two as they spend a happy day dawg. Sympathetic ^ ^
And Google made the vice principal say dawg.
