Brief Bio & Research Interests
Brief Bio
Marine and Environmental Scientist with 20 years' experience in marine pollution, sustainable food production and the blue economy. I hold a PhD in Marine Sciences (2012), as well as an MSc in Advanced Studies in Ecology (2008) and a master's degree in Sustainable Management of Coastal and Marine Systems (2007) from the University of Barcelona. I am a Senior Researcher and Head of Biodiversity and Blue Economy at the Atlantic International Research Centre (AIR Centre, Portugal), where I lead various projects and initiatives related to marine and environmental sciences.
Over the past 15 years, I have conducted research and worked at leading European institutes and universities, collaborating with international, multidisciplinary teams and promoting international cooperation. From 2021 to 2024, I led the Work Package on International Cooperation at the H2020 ASTRAL project (All Atlantic Ocean: Sustainable, Profitable and Resilient Aquaculture), overseeing the development of the ‘Atlantic Aquaculture Network’. I currently act as an Atlantic Ocean Contact Node for the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership (SBEP).
