Scientists, should we believe a word they tell us?

Why does anyone take any notice about anything scientists or government advise us about.  Every day now I read about Government healthy eating advice being totally incorrect.

Only today I read that after all these years of being told to use olive oil and sunflower oil ,Lard( yes pig fat) is more than likely as healthy as either of them.

After all the totally incorrect advice about eating margarine rather than butter it turns out that butter is better for you. (Forget the fact that the British dairy industry was decimated on the incorrect advice of utterly useless scientists.)

My own view is that scientists , doctors, lawyers and politicians( almost all professions) are chosen using totally fallacious criteria. They are also rewarded out of all proportion to their talent in their given field. Basically they are more interested in earning money than having any particular calling or affinity for the field in which they are working.
