Saw a instagram post that was very Arthas and Scillea coded, so I rewrote it to fit my story of them:
"The world tore into her like a ravenous wolf. Hunger and unbidden. Feasting on the flesh of her innocence. She could not die, for that was her blessing. So the world ate till it had its fill and then continued to devour her still." Arthas paused, his words dripping with the precision of a scalpel. "The world raised itself against her, built its glory on her back like a monument. One full of greed and gluttony. Taking...." he began to move to the side, eyes growing ever brighter, "And taking."
The Lich King stopped again, his cloak coming to a halt moments after him. "I don't care what the world remembers me as," he stated as easily as one observes the weather, "kindness was an option it chose not to take. Instead, it selected the worst cruelties it could make and ushered them to one so undeserving. So I, too, have dismantled my own kindness and goodness with my bare and bloodied hands. Grown fangs in place of a smile. Claws instead of an open hand. I have burned my home, and from its wreckage, I have built ruin and destruction the likes of which no man, beast, or being has seen."
Frostmourne groaned at his hip, the metal twitching and moving like water contained in a form not meant to house it. "I have no interest in a clean and unblemished soul. It is a commodity of those who live a vain life. No, no.... I want only one thing." He drew the blade, slowly, letting the biting metal sing loudly with his words. "So long as this body moves, regardless of life, undeath, or even true death, I will never permit her to suffer again."
Arthas took a stance, one of a tiger settling itself in for the hunt. "The rest is negotiable. She is not."
Another thing I wanna go off about Broken Arthas is that he HATES Frostmourne, and Frostmourne hates him.
Well, in the beginning at least.
Arthas knew the blade was doing something to him, and when it went to fully claim his soul, he fought back and instead of it eating him, Arthas ate it. (Power wise)
Because of this, the balance tipped from Frostmourne being in charge and leading Arthas around as Ner'zhul's puppet, to Arthas being the one in control and Ner'zhul desperately trying to control him somehow.
There is supposed to be a scene where Frostmourne tries to attack Scillea (once Arthas revives her) and Arthas finally has enough and breaks its will to his own.
"I HATE THE LIGHT!" the blade howled, struggling against Arthas's grip both mentally and physically. "IT DESERVES TO DROWN IN A SEA OF DARKNESS!"
Arthas tightened his grip, shoving his will deeper and deeper into the blade like a spike through a brain. He parted its consciousness wide open, and to the blades horror, poured himself back into it.
Where once Arthas had taken from the blade, he now returned, but tenfold. His love, his adoration, the blinding light of his life-
"You will learn to love the light," Arthas growled, pouring more and more of his soul and will into the blade as it screamed in agony, their thoughts intertwining and becoming almost one. "You will love how it burns and scours us. How blinding and brilliant it is....we will protect it, at all costs. We must protect it."
Frostmourne howled, raged and thrashed, trying to hone its anger to shove away the broken man's influcence. It hated the world. Hated the living. It hated-
The light. It was so soft, moved so easily towards them-
Frostmourne snapped, breaking under the flow of will being shoved upon it. Like a tempest, all will was blotted out by Arthas's, its gullet filled till nothing remained but him- but them.
The light, it shone so bright. It wanted to reach out- to touch and hold. Let me hold it, just for a moment! Only a moment-
The blade snapped in two, its form dispersing as metal turned to flesh and bone. With a wet crunch, Frostmourne landed upon the cold ground, shivering and blind. The light, the light, it needed the light. It could not live without it!
Arthas watched as it thrashed on the ground, small voice crying out for Scillea, and smiled.
I like how in canon lore Tirion tried to redeem Arthas (with the heart questline) like regardless of it all, he saw a shot and atleast went for it (though he ended up destroying the heart in the end)
it helps play into my AU where Tirion's daughter (my OC Scillea) redeems/keeps Arthas sane(ish) as Lich King. Tirion isn't dumb about it all and blindly has faith, there's still moments where he's raising an eyebrow in suspicion, but mostly he aids in helping keep Arthas sane as he fights the Helm of Domination.
-below is a little snippet-
"No, No, the kid's trying. Give em 5 minutes to tantrum it out, he'll be right as rain after-" Tirion pauses as he thinks, snow dotting his beard and hair as Arthas continued to swear his lungs out off to the side. "Undead rain- but rain nonetheless."
Tyrosus squinted, eyes darting from the calm Paladin of Retribution, to the Lich King pounding his fists into the rock wall and shuddered as chunks were torn away. "Are you SURE about that?" the man asked, trying to quell the innate desire to draw his blade. No one was happy about the Scarlet Crusaders sneaking into Light's Hope, but the Lich King himself was taking it harder than others.
"He's not attacking us, yes?" TIrion mused, giving Tyrosus a sly smile.
The man had to admit, Fordring wasn't wrong in that. "Aye...I suppose so, but-"
"He's still fighting lad, we aught to give him some grace, no? Tirion shuffled slightly, adjusting the Ashbringer on his back casually as one might tighten a boot strap.
"Err, yes, sir, I think I understand-" Tyrosus flinched as there was a loud thump. Both paladin's turned to see that Arthas had finished his 'tantrum' and was laying on the ground like a star fish gazing up past the ocean waters.
"See, right as rain," Tirion gestured.
One thing I enjoy about writing Scillea and Arthas is that they can play off each other's small mistakes
An example: Scillea is poor in political meetings. She will panic over how to act, pose, talk- etc
Scillea: -talking to someone alone and making eye contact with Arthas across the room to come save her-
Arthas: -moves over to see what shes so panicked about-
Scillea: "Ah, yes. This here is my wife Arthas-"
Person shes talking to: 🤨
Arthas: -doesnt even skip a beat- "Yes, how do you do." -bows in a feminine way, using his cloak as if it were a dress hes lifting up- "Tis I, the male housewife. I cook and clean and tend to my husband's every need."
Scillea: -internally screaming because she knows he'll never let her live this down-
Was talking to @scourge-lover about scillea on periods and how arthas would handle it all. She'd go deadly silent during her week and he'd worry about her the entire time.
But my initial thought is he'd go to his sister to find out more and Calia wouldn't hold back the truth.
Arthas says something along the lines of: 'Thank the light i got a dick' and this would happen-
The words had barely left his mouth when justice met him swift and harsh. Calia barely had time to retreat her foot from his crotch before Arthas crumpled to the ground like a sack of grain. Curling into himself with a sharp cry of pain, Arthas squeezed his eyes shut and prayed to the gods to keep his mouth shut off from his brain going forward.
I do not know if i have mentioned, but while Scillea can appear dainty with clothes on, underneath she is all muscle and (per a convo with @scourge-lover ) she heavily reflects Tifa (though I would state the more modded version since Scillea lived in the woods with Tirion all her childhood)
While I may sing about good arthas, I need to remind everyone that he also has craziness to him and is just as brutal, if not more, than canon arthas.
Since two arthas souls live in 1 body, I separate them by: mortal arthas (the nicer one) and broken arthas (the one who witnessed scillea dying and became Lich King in order to ressurect her fully (without necromancy)
Broken Arthas has..... a lot of issues, and tends to flip from silent brooding to murderous rage at the drop of a hat.
Canon Arthas monologues but Broken Arthas will say nothing and lash out in an instant, going for the throat. The only time he'll taunt is when youre already dead. And no, it won't be about his 'unbridled power'
It'll be about how the dead foe has lost the fight, that they were unworthy of their decision to shift the battle field as their own will was never enough to accomplish anything. He might even comment about them relying on another's strength (such as the light, or void, or even fel) and mockingly laugh at that, given that so many relied on Scillea and her family for eons, and once she was gone everyone faught over the scraps of it.
Broken Arthas is a bitter man, angry at the world for its cruelty and how much it takes without asking, without giving back. While it, in itself, is a joke given that he is the Lich King, meaning all his soldiers are dead people raised to fight against their will.
The way he slaughters people is visceral and hate filled. He once put another person's soul inside a living person's bones, and watched as their own body tore itself apart as their skeleton disobeyed them and crawled out....
But worst of all, under all that bitterness, is just a sad broken boy who lost the love of his life and couldn't stop it.
