Soft Lalo x Reader where he takes her out on a date, something romantic like a fancy picnic by a lake with candlessss 😌💕 maybe it could partly be an apology for being busy with business

here we go, soft lalo <3 it's a little short, sorry!

-you finally get the chance to have a cute date with lalo after he's been busy for the last few weeks with his work!

-you know what he does -- you accepted it when he first told you. he does what he has to to protect his family and you.

-really, you feel special that he even shared that part of his life with you. he figured you were strong enough to understand and you loved proving to him that you were.

-while lalo had been away, he'd sent you gifts to show his affection. giant flower bouquets and pretty gold earrings were just some of things he gave to you. notes were attached with elaborate descriptions of his love for you (and what he'd do to you when he came back). 

-he takes you to the lake in the late afternoon, close to sunset. the weather is nice and warm with a little bit of breeze blowing by

-you wear the earrings lalo bought, causing him to compliment you on your excellent taste in jewelry (always such a jokester!)

-you bring along fruit and a little charcuterie assortment of breads, meats, and cheeses while he brings along a very expensive champagne (he never does cheap)

-lalo steals lots of sweet looks at you as you lay down the blanket and pull out the food

-you place a kiss on his cheek and he squeezes your hand while the two of you sit down on the blanket

-the sun begins to set so lalo decides to open the champagne and light a few candles

-the flame of the candle makes him lose his thoughts for a second -- he thinks about travelwire. he doesn't feel bad but he thinks he could have been less loud about the situation.

-being in jail meant being away from you, something he absolutely did not feel comfortable with. 

-the little texts you'd send each other while he was away were fine, but he missed you right by his side. 

-you lightly tap on his face to bring him back to the present, putting his glass of champagne up to his lips.

-lalo's wide, bright smile returns as the sunset casts multicolored shadows across your face.

-he apologizes for being away so much, but things have been hectic

-he looks into your eyes, gaze unwavering while he holds both of your hands

-you shrug and wave the apology away but deep down you get butterflies at him being concerned over you missing him

-he leans in to kiss you, gently at first then slipping some tongue in. you nip at his bottom lip in response, happy he's here with you again

-you push him away playfully and he winks as the two of you begin to eat among the candlelight
