I see your "tattoo artist and flower shop" AU and I respect your joy. As I hope you respect my suggestion, which is, "what if one of them was a traumatized astronaut lost in uncharted space and the other one was an obsessive military commander trying to steal Secret Knowledge from the astronaut's brain?"

Also what if the astronaut was trapped on a living ship with a bunch of fugitives and outcasts, and the military commander was haunting their dreams and waking thoughts like a vicious poltergeist? What if one of them was a beloved and famous hero of their homeworld and the other was an isolated, despised interspecies hybrid (or equivalent)?

What if one of them ate a piece of the other's brain???
