Celebrating a birthday today is Rivers Cuomo (born June 13, 1970) is a musician who is best known as the lead vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter of the band Weezer. At the age of 18, Cuomo moved to Los Angeles where he played in several bands before forming Weezer in 1992. Their first self-titled album was very successful. But Cuomo got bored and burned out with the music scene and was able to enroll in Harvard but dropped out to work on the band’s second album Pinkerton which is considered one of the best albums of the ’90s. He later re-enrolled and graduated in 2008. Cuomo has also released three compilations of home demos in 2007 titled Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo(1,2, and 3) he collaborated with various artists in 2013. Weezer gained public attention in the 90s and again in the early to mid-2000s. Cuomo managed to keep a low profile a never let the fame get to his head Cuomo will be known for his excellent and quirky songwriting skills and his contributions to alternative rock. I’m probably going to have My Name is Jonas stuck in my head most of the day.
